It...Some of us have to learn that one the hard way. It has happened to me, both good fortune and bad--good is easier of course, but the bad is more educational. I agree with your counsel on stewardship, but I also want to add that it is important to give to those less fortunate, no matter what. If nothing else, it is God's way of reminding you that he still cares for you. There are so many people who need help and we all can make a difference. So many people hold onto their money until it screams. I've learned to give a lot of my money away--usually to the homeless. I don't care what they do with it; maybe they will get a bottle of whiskey instead of a sandwich. But if I had to sleep in Rittenhouse Square on Christmas Eve, I would probably want whiskey too. Just giving tells them that someone cares.
